Historic First Melkite Liturgy in San Antonio
On Sunday May 26th, 2019 after many years of anticipation and prayers His Excellency Bishop Nicholas J Samra Melkite Eparch of Newton officiated at the inaugural Divine Liturgy of the San Antonio Melkite Outreach.
Our committed group of individuals are working diligently to place the pictured 9000sqft Carriage house in Castle hills under contract which would be the future home of our community, see the beautiful pictures below.
SUNDAY LITURGY Weekly @10:30am
As the community raises funds to purchase a permanent location weekly Divine Liturgy (Mass) will be temporarily held at St Stephen Catholic Church 2127 S Zarzamora. This has been made possible through the support and generosity of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
+Fr Michael Hull+ of Blessed Memory Speaks About the Eastern Catholic Churchs
“A parish is a community of the faithful ; the pastoral care of which is entrusted to a priest as its shepherd under the authority of the diocesan bishop” . Vatican II’s Decree on the Apostolate of Lay People asserted that the laity should be filled with an apostolic spirit and work closely with their priests. Parish registration creates a two-fold obligation: On one hand, the priest is called to serve the spiritual needs of that individual, on the other hand, the individual is obligated to support the mission and financial needs of the parish.
